Westside ReLEAF: Community Tree Planting Initiative
The Westside Neighborhood Association, in partnership with the City of Charleston, community partners, and community volunteers, is launching Charleston's first community-led ReLEAF neighborhood tree planting initiative.
Our goal is simple: plant approximately 100 street trees throughout the Westside to create safer streets, cooler sidewalks, improved stormwater management, healthier neighborhoods, and a stronger urban tree canopy. This pilot project represents a new model where residents work alongside the City to help restore Charleston's urban forest.
Westside currently has one of the lowest tree canopy percentages on the Charleston peninsula. By planting street trees together we can create a lasting legacy for future generations.

A generous donor is currently providing a $5,000 dollar-for-dollar match for all tree adoptions.
For just $135, you can adopt a street tree that will become part of the Westside for decades to come. While matching funds remain available, your donation will be doubled, allowing us to plant even more trees across the neighborhood.
Whether you adopt one tree, several trees on your block, or dedicate trees in honor or memory of someone special, every adoption directly supports Charleston's first community-led ReLEAF planting initiative.
